For five decades, God has faithfully guided our community, transforming lives through His Word and building a legacy of discipleship in the heart of Toledo. As we reach this "Golden Jubilee," we want to gather to remember His faithfulness, share our stories, and look forward with hope to the next chapter of our mission.

We look forward to celebrating this historic occasion with our church family, alumni, and friends from near and far.

Acts 13:1-3 - “Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’ So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.”

Characteristics we resemble with Antioch Church: 

• Common story of an origin, with cross-cultural evangelism that God blessed abundantly beyond what was invested (11:19-21) 

• Seasoned servants of God over the years have invested in this church, like Paul and Barnabas, Silas… (11:25)

• Discipleship of all ages, particularly: Fellowship groups, Narrowgate, Upper Room, The Well, CBF, HBF…  (11:25-26)

• Generosity within and without (11:29-30)

• Christ-governed (since 2012) – plurality of leaders that seek God’s leadership, not people (13:1-3). 

• Diversity of people (13:1)

• Heavily centered on worship (13:2). 

• Rebuilt altar of prayer (house of prayer for all nations) 13:2; 

• People coming and going (John Mark, Silas, Timothy…) 

• Familiarity with working through and surviving dysfunction and conflict (15:1-2, 30-35), now working towards healthy, grace-based community (15:36-41)

• Being part of a larger network of churches both in the city (through Merge) and regionally (leading church in the Great Lakes Region)

The next 50 years: 

Toledo UBF Mission Statement: Toledo UBF is a Christ-governed, Bible-centered, mission-oriented church with a focus on raising disciples of all ages.

Prayer topics:

1. Continue maturing us as a Christ-governed, Spirit-led, worshiping church.

2. Use our church as a Bible-centered, disciple-making community—raising disciples of all ages.

3. Raise us up as a bold, sacrificial sending church—willing to release people and resources for God's mission locally and globally.
